Topic: A Couple of Sites

Here are a couple of sites I have put together based on phpShop. I think they illustrate the potential for customisation that is available in phpShop.

Both feature the "search engine friendly url" mod and the "beautiful category name" mod. (Information about both these mods can be found in the Modules/Hacks/Tweaks forum.) They also have additional features added that are specific to each site.

www.reporoa-online.co.nz

www.onlinecounsellor.co.nz

Both still have work to be done, but since one earns me nothing and the other is a low cost job for a friend, they get put off in favor of paid work.

If all else fails, read the instructions (or at least the FAQ)

Re: A Couple of Sites

Hi John,

After seeing the work you can do and the work you have displayed here. This work doesn't do you any justice!

I spent all of 30 seconds on each of the sites. The design aspect really does turn you off.

Sorry so blunt John but I know that some of my sites don't always turn out absolute gems but it's important that every site you do is aesthetically pleasing if nothing else.

I'm sure you'll get your chance to critique me when you get the chance smile

Chris.

cheers,

Re: A Couple of Sites

Thanks for the comments Chris.

As I mentioned, neither of these sites were paid work, so were put together quickly and with little attention to the "look".

My only reason for putting them in here was to demonstrate some of the modifications, e.g. SE friendly urls and category.

Yeah, just a new db table and admin form and list.

Oh yeah...it also has a VERY simple contact management system which includes a way for him to create forms to be emailed to him.

Re: A Couple of Sites

Nice to see you can take the criticisms well.

I'm interested to know how the SE Friendly mod is going for you?

Have your rankings improved?

I'm about to apply these mods to www.vitaminking.com.au.

Would love some feedback.

Thanks,

cheers,
