The great thing about these guidelines is that you do not have to be a designer in order to make the best of them. Introducing Softaculous, the application installer

We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Softaculous in order to make their application installer script immediately available for free on all our shared hosting plans.

The Softaculous auto-installer allows the installation of web applications with the click of a button. A wide variety of applications are available to be easily installed, including web portals, e-commerce solutions, content management systems, blogs, polls, forums and more. A full list of of packages that can be installed via Softaculous can be found here.

Are all applications available in Softaculous free?
No, but most of the applications are open-source and available without a cost.

Why use Softaculous to install applications?
Softaculous makes installing software packages such as WordPress and phpBB easy. Softaculous does everything involved in the installation process, including creating databases and setting up permissions on the web-viewable content. Softaculous can also create backups of the software it installs.

Can I remove applications that I install with Softaculous?
Yes, applications that installed with Softaculous can be uninstalled by Softaculous.

Does Edikon support applications installed through Softaculous?
Third party applications are not fully managed, but our support team will provide best-effort support troubleshooting the installation and use of the applications. Since these applications are not developed or supported by Edikon we cannot provide direct support as part of our standard hosting support services. However, outside assistance for these applications is available through online communities or the applications’ developer and you can always contact our support team to request a custom quote from our development team.
I am ready to go! Where is Softaculous found in the control panel?
You can easily find the Softaculous tool inside your control panel. Here is an example of the installer icon as it appears inside our Xpressia Lite theme in the list of tools:

Simply click on the Softaculous App Installer tool and enable the installer for your domain. You will then be able to manage one or more of the many applications available for easy installation.
